I'm Raya Kompany and I am the founder and the president of The Knowledge Wheel. I founded the program with the goal to help kids in foster care and in shelters and give them the support they deserve. I believe together we would be able to bring hope and promise to kids in need who have faced challenges in their lives.
The idea of founding this program started when I was an eighth grader and volunteered to play violin for shelter homes.
Seeing the kids in shelter home and how playing music cheered them up, made me to set a goal for myself to help them more. Through The Knowledge Wheel, we have been able to provide kids in foster care and kids in need with backpack and school supplies. In addition, our tutoring volunteer program helps this vulnerable group with the academic support they may need. Organizing a donation drive, we have been able to donate blankets and sleeping bags to youth shelters. I'm happy that we have been able to raise awareness about the support these vulnerable groups in our community need. I believe together we can give these children hope.
